Bernardí Roig

Bernardí Roig (Palma de Mallorca, 1965) is one of the most interesting young creators in the current Spanish art world. He has held many exhibitions already, participated in important art fairs and there are also many publications that refer to his work. His work contains different sources of inspiration , including Malevitch, Nicholson, Beuys and others, and combines both abstract forms as well as forms more reminiscent of figuration. Roig opts for chiaroscuro, the silence of the blank sheet, and black, which, in his own words is &#171a great despiser of colour, with an impenetrable, mysterious blackness&#187. Chiaroscuro is the colour of conceptuality. Roig's art breaths with reflections on the essence of painting, which is an emptiness and an absence.
