About this work:
Following the astounding success of the first, and now sold-out, edition of Don Quijote de la Mancha (Don Quixote) illustrated by Antonio Saura, we are presenting a further edition of this marvellous collector's book, accompanied by an original screen print signed by the artist. In 1988, following its initial publication, this book received the silver medal in the Schnste Bücher aus aller Welt (the most beautiful books in the world) contest, organized by the traditional Guild of Bookmakers and the Municipal Council of Leipzig. The current edition, which has the same rigorous, beautiful images as the original version, is different only in the colour of the covers and case.
The uniqueness of this Quijote stems from the felicitous meeting of literature and art. Saura's illustrations represent a pinnacle in the pictorial interpretation of this literary classic. Equally essential is the standard text, annotated and furnished with clarifying commentaries by the illustrious Cervantes scholar Martín de Riquer.
