About this work:
From its beginnings in the 1930s, Miró's graphic work has been dedicated to the illustration of poetry and some literary texts. Among the authors he has illustrated are Robert Desnos, Pablo Neruda, Alain Juffroy, Joan Brossa; as well as the Catalan classics Jordi de Sant Jordi, Miquel Martí I Pol, Miquel Costa I Llobera and many more.
In 1980 Miró created a series of fourteen lithographs for the book La Mélodie acide by Patrick Walberg, a writer devoted to the Surrealist painters and author of several texts about Miró. In these illustrations Miró establishes a joyful interplay between shapes and colours, which seem to dance to the rhythm of imaginary music. Each lithograph is numbered and signed on the plate.
