Valerio Adami

Valerio Adami (Bologna, 1935) is an artist highly acclaimed by international criticism. His work is exhibited in important galleries and in large contemporary art museums such as the Centre Pompidou, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art or the Galleria d’Arte Moderna in Milan. His pictures condense the fragmentation of Cubism, the forms of Futurism, and the particular aesthetics of Pop Art. In 1990 the Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno organised a large retrospective of his work, whose sources range from the cinema, the comic, and advertising to literature, music, philosophy and the great myths of western culture. Adami has inspired many writers and thinkers. Octavio Paz underscores his great control in drawing and his direct and discerning style. In 1980 Italo Calvino wrote Quatre Fables d' Esope for Valerio Adami.
