Karl Jirikovsky was born in Heoflein (Germany) in 1943. He studied to be a teacher, and specialised in art. Since 1986 he has exhibited several times in Germany. His images are a mixture of realism and the lack of definition, and often feature still life subjects such as small bunches of flowers, in which the poetical feeling is suggested by abstract brushstrokes. The organic forms are created using amazingly clean lines, thanks to their almost scientific precision. In the work of this German artist the usual properties of engravings go hand in hand with lightness, transparency and a watercolour-like texture.
