A member of the group ZERO since the beginning of the 60s, the German artist Günther Uecker (Wendorf, 1930) is today recognised throughout the world on account of his artistic projects using nails, in which he creates a subtle interplay of light effects. His art shows an affinity with kinetic art, Op Art and Luminism. He has recently designed the reception hall of the German parliament in Berlin - an impressive, solemn work. His graphic works are similarly solemn and elegant, stamped works which do not use colour, but just mark the white of the paper with the indentations, in relief, of the nails.
