Antón Lamazares

The Galician artist Antón Lamazares (Maceira, 1954) launched his artistic career in the eighties together with the Atlántica group, whose objective was to revitalize Galicia's aesthetics of the time. They offered figuration and expressionism as a renewed language to create a new contemporary committed art. Since then Lamazares has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in some of the best museums and galleries worldwide.

Lamazares, of minimalist tendencies and influenced by Art-Brut and Informalism, creates compositions in which simplicity competes against expressiveness, and minimal lines against strong colours.
